B-17 Flying Fortress Operation Chowhound AVRO Lancaster

 

Duindigt 2000

In 2000 a group of veterans of the Manna and Chowhound missions came back to Holland to commemorate the food drop missions.
J. v/d Broek was present at the commemoration at the Duindigt Racetrack.
He provided the following pictures and newspaper clipings.

J. v/d Broek and his son posing with Jeff Brown, a veteran of no. 576 Squadron of the RAF. He flew one of the Mosquito's that marked the dropzones for the bombers. His story is told in the book 'Memories of a miracle' written by Hans Onderwater.
